Our sincere thanks for making the Year of India in Canada 2011 series a tremendous success.

What a year it has been. Here and across Canada, the "Year of India" included everything from artistic performances to writers' festivals and film screenings.

In Regina, we have held at least one event every month since April, nine of which were direct from India.

Colorful costumes, energetic dancing, and entertaining Bollywood songs marked the end of the Year of India in Canada celebrations in Regina this week (October 25, Conexus Arts Centre).

In an exciting show called "Bollywood Musical Sandstorm" which features 40 performers from India, Indian musical icon ILA ARUN will dazzle Regina on 25 October 2011 on the main stage at Conexus Arts Centre.

ICA has been overwhelmed with positive feedback and complimented for bringing to Regina such a vibrant dance performance. Here are a few of the encouraging words sent to us by Mr. Paul Gingras (Organizational Outreach and Development Coordinator for SaskCulture Inc.):

"I just wanted to say thank you for the opportunity to witness Uddharan last week. It was an exceptional performance! I was expecting a traditional Indian dance performance but was blown away by the fusion of dance styles.

As part of the special celebrations to mark India's Independence Day, ICA is excited to bring you Vancouver's Delhi 2 Dublin and a colourful Kuchipudi classical dance troupe from India.

Local and provincial media representatives and around 25 invited guests attended a press conference at the Conexus Arts Centre on December 10, 2010 to launch the Year of India in Canada 2011 initiative.

ICA is a supporting partner of "Year of India in Canada 2011".

An initiative of the Government of India, "Year of India in Canada 2011" is a year of cultural events, literary workshops, seminars, trades shows, and other public events across Canada.
