$30,500 raised for local charity; 30th Annual India Supper Night breaks ICA record

15 November 2011, Regina -- A record $30,500 was raised by the 30th Annual India Supper Night held on Saturday, September 24 at the Conexus Arts Centre. Organized by the India Canada Association of Saskatchewan (ICA), attendance at the event topped 500.

"We are truly excited about all the important work that can be accomplished through the help of this generous donation," said Faith Savarese, Executive Director of the Regina and District Association for Community Living (RDACL), the group to which proceeds from this ICA event were presented.

To our friends, supporters, sponsors, members, and Regina at large :

Our sincere thanks for making the Year of India in Canada 2011 series a tremendous success.

What a year it has been. Here and across Canada, the "Year of India" included everything from artistic performances to writers' festivals and film screenings.

In Regina, we have held at least one event every month since April, nine of which were direct from India.

Colorful costumes, energetic dancing, and entertaining Bollywood songs marked the end of the Year of India in Canada celebrations in Regina this week (October 25, Conexus Arts Centre).

Glowing comments are coming in non-stop for "Bollywood Musical Sandstorm" -- the final Year of India event in Regina that thrilled an audience of over 500 on October 25.

If you have comments or reviews about any of the Year of India events, please share them with us through our contact page.

Meanwhile, we just couldn't resist sharing this email from Karen, which makes us so proud:

REGINA -- Bal Arneson is sure to spice things up in the Queen City this weekend. She is the Spice Goddess, after all.
