MEDIA RELEASE : "India in the Park" event and evening show both huge successes
Nearly 1000 Reginans passed through "India in the Park" on Saturday, August 20 to celebrate India's Independence Day with the ICA.
The day of activities on Wascana Lake in front of the Conexus Arts Centre included food, dance performances, Henna artists, magic tricks, kite flying, jewelery & clothing stalls, and much more.
That evening, an audience of almost 500 enjoyed an exhilarating double feature performance inside the Conexus Arts Centre: First, Vancouver's Delhi 2 Dublin forced youngsters and the young at heart to abandon their seats and dance in front of the mainstage; then, the breathtaking Kuchipudi Dancers from India brought classical Indian culture to the evening.
Spectacular fireworks over Wascana Lake closed out the day at dusk.
ICA thanks the performers, volunteers, and especially all the enthusiastic attendees for making the 2011 India Independence Day celebration such a memorable success.
