Letter to the Editor: "Event deserved better"
(published in the Regina Leader Post, August 24, 2011)
I am disappointed, to say the least, with the lack of reporting on India in the Park this past Saturday.
The Regina Symphony Orchestra's Symphony Under the Sky on Sunday garnered not one, but two articles in Monday's Leader-Post; all India In The Park got was a measly photo with a quick blurb.
You should be ashamed to leave out such an event, considering the Indian community in Regina is growing rapidly and is celebrating its independence during the nationwide "Year of India".
As a multicultural city, we should be more vigilant in reporting on these types of events, as meager as they may seem.
Coming from someone who did attend, India in the Park was a delightful peek into another world. The highlight of the evening was the Kuchipudi Dancers, providing a beautifully artistic showcase of India's most famous dance routines.
I just wish someone would have reported on it so that you could fully understand what was missed out on! A shame.
