India's 65th Independence day celebrated in style at Regina

India's tricolour (national flag) was prominently displayed with due honour in Regina's (Saskatchewan)Conexus Arts centre on Aug 18, 2012.

The event called 'India in the Park' was arranged by ICA. There were cultural presentations like dances and patriotic songs on a colourful stage. Our youth and some adult performers entertained the crowds throughout the afternoon. Our young friend Ali from Pakistan performed a dance number. This was a gret lesson for the separatists who continuously look to create voids between the two neighbouring countries.

Our new teacher of ICA 's Hindi language school -Chanchal managed a booth where she highlighted the importance of learning Hindi language both (for kids and adults). She also showcased the activities done at Hindi School and the levels of participation of our students at different forums. There is no fees for the Hindi school.

There were some colourful stalls exhibiting items like Indian jewellery, clothing etc. The visitors got Henna tattoos done from our experts. ICA supported 'street culture kids' by inviting them to set up a face painting and animal balloons stall for the kids.

Visitors enjoyed Indian food, mango ice cream, mango lassi and the Indian beers.

There were Independence Day Greetings from the local MP, City council and the funding organizations like Saskculture and MCOS.

The event received due prominence in the local media.
